New Bedding!

After 4.5 years of marriage, I was tired of the comforter that we got as a wedding gift. (even though it was a very nice set, thank you, Paula). So I bought all new bedding with my Christmas money. The new color has added a more romantic, relaxing atmosphere. This is what the bedroom currently looks like. When we finally get a house, I would love to paint an accent wall in red. I don't feel up to doing it with the apartment right now.

So I know y'all can now feel comfort knowing where Kyle & I sleep at night.

What I've Learned after living in Texas for 6 months...

1.) It is a rule to have some type of Mexican food at least once daily. I've never eaten as much chips, salsa, cheese dip, tortillas, etc in all of my life! Now I've always like Mexican food, but it was usually a once a week thing or less when we lived in other areas of the country. So I'm still getting used to eating this type of food more often, which can be on a daily basis.

2.) In the city, using your turn signal to change lanes is really a cue for other drivers around you saying "Speed up! Don't let her in!" This is very true, especially on my drive to Dallas every morning. When I try to be the polite driver by using my turn signal to change lanes, no one will let me in. Everyone driving around me just cuts in front of me in traffic. To date, I've been thankful to be involved in zero accidents & have zero speeding tickets on my record. So who really is the safe driver? :)

3.) You MUST keep your entire wardrobe out all year, which requires a very large closet. Being the seasonal girl that I am, I packed up all of my summer stuff & got out all of my winter sweaters, etc like I usually did in Ohio (but at a later date this year). Well, it turns out that I haven't even worn some sweaters yet because it just hasn't been cold enough. I even went Christmas shopping in flipflops with no coat! This Texas climate is a new experience to me. I also just got back from walking Pepper at the park due to the warm weather. So when I used to make fun of people from the south for wearing mittens & gloves when it was 50 degrees outside, now I see why they did. Otherwise these winter items just wouldn't get worn!

4.) I am living back in "soda" NOT "pop" territory. Being from Ohio, all carbonated beverages are known as pop. This change hit me my first week at work while I was teaching a diabetes class, telling my patients to not drink regular pop....they corrected me & now I do call it soda when teaching classes.

5.) Your schedule revolves around Cowboys games. From family get togethers to church functions, the time of getting together fits around the Cowboys. Speaking of this, we are off to a party with some friends from church to watch the playoffs.

Yippee! The download for some holiday pictures to blogger finally worked.

This isn't all of the pictures from Christmas, but they do give you an idea of the enjoyable time we had with both of our families in both Ohio & Texas.

As I enter this blog post, Ohio State is in the process of beating LSU in the
championship game. It's only the middle of the second quarter, but hopefully the Bucks will stay ahead the entire game for a win.

Now that I live in the South, there aren't many people who are OSU fans. So I am watching the game by myself at the moment. Kyle should be home soon. He usually has Bible Study Fellowship on Monday nights.


Oh no! LSU just scored! Yikes! Maybe I'm bringing bad luck to the Bucks because I'm multitasking doing this blog & not cheering for them. Better go before something bad happens.

What to call our blog?

So....Kyle didn't like the name of our blog "Two Yorkie Lovers." Even though we both love our yorkie Pepper, he must have thought this title for a blog was a little much.

Now I am sitting here wondering what to call our blog...

Maybe I'll just keep the picture for now until someone out there has a better name.

I also tried uploading the Christmas pictures again to the blog & was again not successful. More to follow later...

A whirlwind, yummy, holiday!

Ok. So everyone & their mother must be trying to post a new entry on their blogs because I'm having issues with the posting tonight. This entry doesn't have pictures because I tried to upload them twice with no success. I wonder what's going on....maybe someone in all of my pictures actually was too big of a file size for my blog! :)

Anyway, I guess I will post my text tonight & do the pictures within the next couple of days, so check back.

Kyle & I had a wonderful Christmas break. I didn't have to work for 9 WHOLE DAYS, which was awesome. I also entered the world of facebooking, so if you are on facebook, look me up.

We left for Ohio the Saturday before Christmas and stayed for a week. It was a blessing to be "home for Christmas." No snow this year.

On Sunday we celebrated Christmas with the Collins side of the family. We had a White elephant gift exchange, which was fun. The really funny part was that my mom had actual "junk" that you would give in a white elephant exchange. Everyone else had pretty good stuff. Maybe the saying "one man's junk is another man's treasure" is true this time around.

On Monday we got ready for Christmas Eve dinner. I helped Kristen deliver the traditional homemade cinnamon rolls to all local aunts, uncles, & cousins. Grandma & Grandpa came over for Christmas Eve dinner. Mom made a delicious meal as usual. This year it was beef burgundy & shrimp scampi...yum!

Tuesday morning we had Christmas with mom, dad, Kristen, Tim, & Julie. Kyle & I were silly & purchased gag gifts at the dollar store for everyone as stocking stuffers. We then enjoyed the rest of Christmas at Grandma & Grandpa's house with all of the rest of the family. Grandma made her homemade noodles & mashed potatoes, which are my favorite. All of the cousins played a game called "Things" to wrap up bonding at Christmas.

Wednesday we hung out in Piqua & went to see Alvin & the Chipmunks with my family. I guess there is nothing else to do in Piqua, so everyone & their mother was at the mall. It was so crowded in the theatre that we had to all sit separately to see the movie, but it was still fun.

Thursday was our "Lima day." We went up to Lima where I visited my old workplace & co-workers, then we went to a party to see our church friends.

Friday we did some more shopping, eating (we ate well the whole trip), ended the day by seeing National Treasure with my family. This time we all got to sit together at the movie, yippee!

On Saturday we had lunch at Bob Evans on the way to the airport and then we came home to Texas.

I'm not sure what feels like home yet. Piqua will always be my hometown, but hopefully Texas will feel more like home as time goes by.
