Texas Family & Pleasant Ridge Baby Shower

A couple of weekends ago was my baby shower given by Paula's close friends. It was a very special shower & lots of fun. Thank you so much again, Joan, Arlene, Debbie, & Debbie for hostessing this shower! I definitely feel "showered" thanks to y'all.
Texas family also came to this shower.....Aunt Carrie, cousin Alana, Aunt Karen, cousin Kristin, & Grandmother Rhodes. I know they are all looking forward to baby Kent being a part of the family!

Soon to be Aunt Amanda did an awesome job at writing down all of the baby gifts at the shower. She is going to be an awesome aunt!

My mom wasn't able to come to this shower, but she did send a gift. She made this sesame street room sign for Kent. Isn't it cute? I can't wait to put it up in the nursery! Thanks mom, I love you!

Me with future Aunt Amanda & Grandma Paula. I'm not sure yet what name Paula wants to be called when Kent arrives. Maybe I should take a poll on this blog....any ideas out there?
Thanks again, everyone for a wonderful shower! Thanks Paula, for all of the pictures!

Spring Sing/Easter Weekend 2009

This past Easter weekend Kyle & I met up with my parents at our college alma mater, Harding University, for the traditional Spring Sing show. For those of you who are unfamiliar with spring sing, all of the social clubs (at Christian C of C colleges they are called social clubs instead of fraternities/sororities) put together a 5-6 minute show with music & dancing with a theme. They then write their own lyrics to various popular songs to go along with their show. My sister is a sophomore there this year & pledged a social club, so she was doing spring sing for the first time.
During the day Kyle & I enjoyed walking around the Harding campus with my parents, remembering our time at Harding. It's hard to believe that I graduated 6 years ago...time flies!
Harding's campus is very beautiful. One of the traditional trademarks are the swings on the front lawn. Tradition states the saying "3 swings & a ring", meaning that if you sit with a guy on a swing 3 times in a row, you are going to get married.

We ended up staying in Little Rock at a hotel for the weekend because all of the hotels in Searcy fill up really early in the year for Spring Sing weekend. It was also fun to be in Little Rock, where Kyle & I lived the first year after we got married.
On Easter Sunday we had the opportunity to worship at the church we attended in Little Rock, which was fun to see some of our old friends again.
Overall, this weekend was a lot of fun. Who knows when we will be back for spring sing again.
Here is a picture of my sister & her boyfriend Cy dressed as Indians for their club spring sing show.

Where have we been? Any life updates?

Hey everyone! In case you have been wondering about the lack of blog entries/posts lately, my computer has been on the fritz with several viruses. Needless to say, my internet & digital pictures are all messed up. So I haven't had a chance to update the blog. I keep thinking that one day I'm going to wake up & my computer is magically going to work again, so I put off adding a blog entry.

Yes, a lot has been going on & I'm anxious to update y'all. Hopefully this will all get fixed soon, so keep checking back.

Real quick...brief pregnancy update....I'm 31 weeks right now, have another 8-10 weeks to go. I've been feeling pretty good for the most part, but I do start to get more uncomfortable as the day goes on & wake up about ever 1.5-2hrs at night. But overall I can't really complain. This is just God's way of preparing me for after Kent's born. Thanks for all of your continued prayers for both myself & baby Kent.

Kent's Ohio Baby Shower!

This past weekend we flew to Ohio for a baby shower for Kent from my family & friends in Piqua.

The shower was on Friday night & had a rubber ducky theme. My cousin Stacey made the cutest diaper cake for Kent!

My mom had my grandparents over for a dinner of yummy vegetable soup before the shower. Here we are taking a few pics before we headed over.

A few women from my church growing up Mid-County also came for the shower. Erica, Swana, & Althea. It was so good to see them!

I opened many cute (too many pics to post) little boy outfits. I can't wait to dress him up in all of them...especially this Ohio State onesie from my mom, future Grandma Collins. :)

My mom loves seeing me pregnant. In fact, she enjoyed sitting on the couch with her hand on my belly, waiting for Kent to kick. He did cooperate, a few times.

A pic of me with all of my aunts....Aunt Linda, mom, me, Aunt Amy, Aunt Julie, Aunt Lisa.

a pic of me with all of the girl cousins at the shower. Shelley was gone chaperoning a school trip (we missed you!) Mindy, me, Bethany, Megan, Kristen, Molly, Stacey, & Liz.

I unloaded the shower gifts on my parents dining room table & took a picture of everything. Since we flew to Ohio, my parents are bringing this stuff to us when we see them at Harding's Spring Sing production next month.

I received many cute & cuddly blankets at the shower, many of which were homemade from different friends & family members. I can't wait to wrap up Kent in them! (although it will have to be next winter since he is due in June).

Our immediate family enjoyed being together this weekend. On Saturday we played games together & reminisced over some old home videos from the 90s. Here they are posing while playing an intense game of Pit.
The weekend was fun, but way too short as usual. I'm thankful for the opportunity we had to travel to Ohio. The next time we go, little Kent will be with us!

Weekend fun!

This past weekend was a lot of fun! I am all about trying to get out of the house & do stuff now since I know it will be a little bit more of an effort after Kent is born.

On Friday night Kyle & I had dinner at Pei Wei (an Asian diner chain found in most metro areas....very yummy! We highly recommend it!) Then we went to the MALL, mainly because Kyle was on a mission for a new briefcase.

On Saturday Kyle & I had fun registering for baby shower gift ideas at Babies R' Us. (My first shower is just 2-3 weeks away with my family/friends in Ohio). Kyle was a good sport in the midst of the baby wonderland of Babies R' Us. Now that job is behind us! The next project is the get the nursery started. After much thought, I have decided to go ahead & paint it. Originally I thought I would leave it in the olive green color that is already on the walls, but it isn't really matcing my sesame street decor/theme. Thankfully, I have an awesome mother-in-law & sister-in-law who are going to help me paint it soon. So be on the lookout for pics of our nursery progress.

On Saturday night Kyle & I went to the Chris Tomlin concert at Nokia theatre in Grand Prairie. Chris Tomlin is one of my favorite Christian artists and his concert definitely did not disappoint...he did a great job! I love seeing how he is using his talent for God's glory. Tickets to the concert were a b-day gift to me from Kyle. Great job, honey! I love you!

On Sunday we celebrated Billy's birthday at Brett & Amanda's house. Amanda cooked a delicious meal of beef tenderloin, mashed potatoes, fried okra, homemade bread, green bean casserole. (did I leave anything out?) I brought deviled eggs & dessert...a carmel apple pecan pie...yum!

Needless to say, it was hard to return to work this week after such a fun weekend. Thanks for all of the fun times & memories, everyone!
