Pregnancy week 38-39

It's getting close to the end of the preggo pics. Actually, this is most likely my last preggo pic post before baby Kent arrives.

Here are some updated photos of me at week 38-39, for your entertainment.

A side view of me with what looks like a watermelon.

Baby Kent, I can't wait to hold you & kiss you! We are all ready to see the work that God has been doing on you these past 9 months!

The Latest Happenings...

So for those of you who read this blog and don't have facebook accounts or who I don't regularly email, you may be wondering the latest in the Rhodes of Life....

-Kyle is busy getting his law practice more functional for the needs that he sees are growing the longer he is in business. The two biggest projects he is working on currently are a website where you can make your own will if you are a Texas resident, and a phone answering service to help him schedule appointments. He plans on trying to work from home for the first week or so after Kent arrives, and having these things in place is going to help him tremendously.

-On a funny note....we had a bad thunderstorm last night with tornado warnings throughout the area. Our dog Pepper absolutely hates thunderstorms. We refer to him as a "nervous nelly" dog or "scaredy dog" when he starts shaking & whining. It actually gets to be pretty annoying if the storm lasts a long time. Well, last night he was trying to jump up on everything (I guess he didn't think the ground was very safe). He followed me into our master bathroom where I was getting ready to use the restroom. Before I had a chance to stop him, Pepper had jumped up on the toilet & fell in, splashing toilet water everywhere! Thankfully the toilet was flushed, but I was still grossed out at the fact that the dog had jumped in the toilet and now had toilet water germs all over half of his body! When Pepper is dirty & is in need of a bath, Kyle & I call him "Pepper the Leper" until he gets a bath. I type this entry tonight after Pepper has had a fresh bath & is leper-free (probably his last bath for a while).

-What about the pregnancy/baby news? At my doctor's appointment today, she officially scheduled me to be induced NEXT FRIDAY....WOOHOO! (that's June 19, which has been Kyle's prediction all along!). He is measuring big, and my doctor felt more comfortable inducing me at 39 weeks, which I'm totally fine with at this point. She reassured me that from what she can tell, he is ready to come out. So, unless Kent decides to come on his own between now & then, we will officially have a bundle of joy next Friday. We can't wait! So please keep us in your prayers between now & then. And definitely be on the lookout for pictures!

Where will God lead us on this new & exciting path in life as parents? Keep reading the Rhodes of Life to find out.....God bless!

Pregnancy Week 36-37

We are on the home stretch for baby Kent to make his way into the world...only about 3-4 more weeks to go!

This morning Kyle & I had maternity pictures taken professionally. It's kind of a newer thing, for those of you who have grown kids. Many couples & pregnant women have a photographer take their picture with the baby belly in a variety of poses. So, since I was still done up from the pictures this morning, I had Kyle snap a couple of updates of my belly.

Here I am at 36-37 weeks. I had an ultrasound at the doctor's office yesterday. Everything is measuring right on schedule. The biggest shocker to me was the estimated baby weight based on several measurements.....7 pounds, 7 ounces right now! And, I have 3-4 weeks to go! After the appointment, Kyle is referring to Kent as our "linebacker" based on the weight they told us. I'm just hoping that the weight is off by a little bit. I want a healthy baby, but no 9 or 10 pounders if I can help it!

Only a few weeks to go. Could this belly get any bigger? We'll see!

Memorial Day 2009

We had a fun Memorial Day. Our day started out with a yummy "camp breakfast" with the Hastings family at Steve & Joan's house. The reason it was called a "camp breakfast" is because the Rhodes & Hastings would go camping when the kids were little almost every Memorial Day weekend. So Joan & Paula made a delicious breakfast of pancakes, waffles, sausage, hashbrowns, fruit, etc that they would fix on the Rhodes/Hastings camping trips in the past. Very yummy!
After breakfast, we all watched a video of some of the pictures from past Rhodes/Hastings camping trips.

Me with Amanda & Staci.

Joan watching almost 1 year old Barrett outside by the pool. Barrett & baby Kent will be about 1 year apart.

Amanda & I with the Hasting's girls: Staci, Audria, & Ann.
After the party at the Hastings, Kyle & got together with a few friends from church in our small group for a cookout. Needless to say, we couldn't get the grill to work at the Franklins, so it really wasn't a cookout, more like a cook in. But we still had fun. Kyle was in heaven with the rotel cheese dip as usual.
Hope everyone else had a great Memorial Day weekend. I enjoyed this last holiday off before baby Kent arrives. I've already started having a few Braxton-Hicks, so we'll just see how long it is before he comes.

Baylor Baby Shower

We have definitely been blessed with several baby showers from our friends & family to celebrate the joy of the upcoming birth of Kent. This past week my coworkers at Baylor Transplant had a diaper/gift card shower for me.

The cake had a fire truck on it, was strawberry with cream cheese frosting...very delicious!

Here is a quick pic of some of my friends from work who celebrated at the shower this past week:
-Sitting down: Nicole, me, Erin
-Back row: Carina, Daphne, Bettina, Leslie, Kerri, Tally, Jen, Morgan, & my coworker RD, Tanya.
Thanks so much, girls, for all of the diapers & wipes. I have a great starter supply, thanks to them! Y'all are the best!
