Christmas Shopping Isn't For Me...

I'm in a Christmas shopping funk. Usually I'm so on top of having everything purchased by this time of the year, a week before Christmas. For some reason, I just can't decide what to do for people this year.

I just got back from Kohl's, hoping I would get inspired & see ideas for the people on my list. Instead, I just feel cheap. I know, I know. "It's the thought that counts" and "the best gifts in life are free", right? But still. When I look at the budget I have available to spend per person, I really wish I could do something more & give something nicer. It's part of who I am, and right now, I'm frustrated because I just can't give the way I want to give. I'm to the stage in life that finding something thoughtful & meaningful is hard to come by. I also HATE to give a giftcard.....if we are going to do that, why doesn't everyone just save their money & forget gifts altogether?

I'm hoping that after dinner I will get more inspired, not discouraged, at the mall. Wish me luck. It's a madhouse out there right now, and it's a Wednesday night!

Any ideas for thoughtful, inexpensive gifts? I'd love to hear your secret!

Donations to charities and non-profit organizations can be thoughtful and inexpensive. If an aunt survived cancer, you could make a donation in her honor to the American Cancer Society. If a cousin spends a Saturday each month volunteering at a soup kitchen, they would probably appreciate a donation to Heifer International.

I'm not sure what your definition of inexpensive is, but if you only want to spend something like $5, you could print out a certificate saying "A donation was made in your honor to (charity name here)." Saying exactly how much was donated isn't necessary.
