6 weeks old

Kent turned 6 weeks old yesterday! Our "little" guy doesn't seem so "little" anymore. I'll post some updated pics soon when I get around to taking some. His latest thing is that he does smile, but by the time I try to snap a picture of his smile, he isn't doing it anymore. So for right now, you will just have to believe me until I can show documented proof.

We are in a pretty good routine with eating about every 3 hours during the day, 3-5 hours at night. The challenge right now is that Kent is still having trouble with what we think is reflux, but it could be something else. Whenever he nurses, he will eat for about 5 minutes really well at the beginning and then the rest of the time he tries to nurse, he arches his back & screams bloody murder. As you can imagine, this can be extremely frustrating & emotionally draining on me. The doctor changed his medication a couple of days ago, and also has a reflux sonogram scheduled next week to check out what's going on. I'm just trying to stick it out in the meantime. So other than eating, he really doesn't scream or cry at other time periods more than the usual baby.

Please keep little Kent (and his mommy) in your prayers, specifically that he will start eating without screaming the entire time. Eating is supposed to be a happy experience, right? I'll let y'all know how he is doing.

I'm going to try to catch a smile with my camera tonight. :-)

Smiles are few and far between in the beginning. Now crying, on the other hand, is a different story! It seems like most babies are either sleeping or crying during the first three months. It seems like when my boys turned 3 months old we all of the sudden thought of them as happy babies!

As for the feeding issues...have you tried a bottle? Barrett was just like Kent. He'd nurse for 5 minutes and then he was done. I'd tried to force more and he'd just cry! When I went to the bottle he all of the sudden would drink for much longer. Strange...and totally different than Brody! Just an idea to try ;) Hopefully it's not reflux and it's just the normal baby fussiness!
