This past Sunday, we had the opportunity to celebrate Grandpa Herds 91st birthday. Paula had us over for a delicious lunch (as usual!) after church. Grandpa Herd's favorite dessert is squash pie, which is pictured here. The story behind the squash pie is that this is something that Grandpa Herd's mother would make when he was growing up in Indiana. Look at the smile of pure joy & satisfaction at the sight of squash pie on his birthday!
Paula also loves to cook/experiment in the kitchen. She is even in the process of starting up her own website/blog with her recipes, etc. One of her latest experiments in cooking (out of the many!) were these pink pig cookies. We all thought they were really yummy at the birthday party! Be on the lookout for a possible recipe at her website (
www.paularhodes.com) soon. If you go to this website & nothing is there, don't worry, it is still in the process of being developed. So just keep checking back periodically. :)
Here is a picture of the squash pie. Paula only put candles on 1/2 of it because she wanted to take a picture of the completed pie for her website. So, yes, this recipe will most likely be on the website as well. Yum yum!
