Birthday Buddies!

Did you know that Kent has a birthday buddy? Yep, and it's kind of fun! I think that God knew that Kent would need a birthday buddy, and I would need a new mommy friend. So I'm thankful that he has provided this in my life through my new friend Laura & her new son Harrison.

I met Laura at work this past year. She is a speech pathologist at the hospital and was pregnant at the same time as me. During our pregnancies, we would see each other at work & compare baby bumps, etc. Her due date was a couple of weeks before mine, and it turns out that we both went into labor on the same day! Who would have thought? Me deliver early, she was 5 days late.

It turns out that we have a lot in common. We are both from the Midwest (I'm from Ohio, she is from Michigan but I won't hold that against her), both have new baby boys, both like to run, both had the same ob-gyn doctor, both had c-sections, both are breastfeeding, both are returning to work full-time & putting our sons in the same daycare at work, both have husbands who are attorneys. (yep, we plan on getting our husbands together sometime). We also both think that huggies diapers stink, as they have leaked several times on our boys. Pampers swaddlers have my vote, the Cosco brand has Laura's (which I'm willing to try after my supply from baby showers runs out).

So we got together for the first time today for a play date with our boys & to hang out. Here are pictures of Kent & Harrison. Aren't they too cute for words? They didn't seem that interested in each other at this first time meeting, but we have it documented to show them someday.

Overall the time together this afternoon was fun, but I can tell you that Harrison won the quiet/well behaved baby award today. My little Kent was fussy & crying almost the entire time...he cried (or should I say wailed?) from 12pm-2:30pm. Poor baby! Finally he settled down & slept for an hour before I needed to head home.
Laura is doing a great job as a new mom. I thank God for providing a new mom friend in my life that I can relate to & draw support from. It will be fun to get together again with Laura and Harrison. I wonder who will be the crying baby next time? Guess I'll see...it will keep us entertained, for sure!

Here is a picture of Laura & her well behaved, quiet little Harrison.

Thank you, God, for mommy friends in my life!
