Kent's 1st trip to Ohio!

This past week we all (including Kent) had the opportunity to take a trip to Ohio! This was the first time Kent traveled to Ohio, which was an adventure. Please note: I took over 200 pictures of this trip, the ones you see here are only a few to share. Blogger only lets me upload 5 pictures at a time & it takes forever, so please don't get mad at me if your picture didn't make it into this blog post. You are all very loved & it was hard to choose! If you want to see all of our pictures from the trip, go to my facebook page.

Kent did not travel to Ohio in the suitecase, in case you were wondering. But doesn't he look cute in Kyle's suitecase? With the way he is growing, he won't fit inside much longer!

Our trip to Ohio was rather adventurous. First of all, we learned that one of our plane tickets needs to have "with infant" listed on it by our name. So when we first got to the security checkpoint, we had to turn around with all of our stuff & return to the ticketing booth to have one of our boarding passes fixed to include this information. After we got that fixed, we wheeled the stroller with Kent in his infant seat attached to the security checkpoint. I thought that we would be able to wheel Kent right through the medal detector, but that's not the case. It turns out that I had to take a sleeping baby out of his infant seat & carry him through, which he wasn't happy about. The thing that put me over the edge was when the security guard told me that I had to take off Kent's baby sandles & put them through the medal detector! Craziness! I doubt any type of weapon could honestly fit into a soft, tiny baby shoe! While I was dealing with the shoe fiasco, Kyle had to collapse the stroller & put it on the belt to go through the medal detector, along with the infant car seat. Needless to say, we were holding up the line. And, Kent was screaming the entire time. At the other end of the security checkpoint one of the security guards commented by Kent's screaming, "someone's not happy." I wanted to say, "would you be happy if you were awakened from a nice nap & someone took off your shoes?" Geez! Well, Kent ended up screaming the entire time while we were waiting to board our plane. Then he finally fell asleep. He was pretty good on the plane, but it was one of those trips that I was thankful we had a direct flight straight to the Dayton airport! So that is our adventure getting to Ohio. :)

After we got back to my parent's house, my mom surprised me by having a baby nursery ready for her new grandson! She turned my brother's old room into a nursery, which was really cute. I can tell it took her a lot of time & effort to get it done, but so appreciate her for doing it out of love. Here are some pictures of the nursery at Grandma Collins' house. On one wall she made framed information & pictures about the birth of Kent. She plans to do one of these for each of her grandchildren she is blessed with in the future. So special!

Here is a sign you see as you enter into the nursery...Grandma's Happy Place. After being there & enjoying this nursery over the past week, it is definitely a "happy place" full of memories. Thank you again, mom! This was so special! I look forward to the next time we visit!

The crib in the nursery at Grandma Collins' house is special as well, as this was my crib as a baby. Doesn't he look too cute for words inside it?

Here is a view of "Grandma's Happy Place" from the hallway as you enter into the room. My mom had the whole thing organized....diapers all ready, burp cloths, towels, blankets, small toys. She was well prepared!

Grandpa Collins enjoyed time holding his grandson. Kent even smiled several times, but is still too quick to catch on camera.

Aunt Julie enjoyed holding her first nephew. This trip to Ohio was the first time Tim & Julie got to meet Kent in person. They are an awesome aunt & uncle. We look forward to more fun times together in the future!

Tim enjoying some baby Kent time.

Aunt Kristen also enjoyed time with Kent. She loved to sing to him & bounce him up & down as she walked. I'm glad she was still home to see Kent before she returned to Harding for her junior year as a speech path major.

Grandma Collins enjoyed sitting outside on the front porch with Kent. The Ohio weather was hot for Ohio while we were there, in the upper 80's/lower 90's during the day. Us Texans were used to the heat.

A pic of us with my parents & Kristen at Kent's great-grandma & grandpa Teeter's pond.

Us with Great-Grandma & Great-Grandpa Teeters & Kent. It was a beautiful day.

A family picture out by the pond.

One night while we were in Ohio my parents watched Kent for us while Kyle & I went on a "date night" with the other young couples in our family....Tim & Julie, Dan & Naomi, Shelly & Joey, Stacey & Donovan, Jon & Amy. We went to dinner at O'Charley's, which was a lot of fun!

A pic of the whole group at "date night" at O'Charley's: Kyle, Donovan, Tim, Shelly, Julie, Amy, Naomi, myself, Stacey, Joey, Jon, & Dan.
Our "date night" was the last night we had in Ohio. We also got to see the whole extended family for a picnic where they all got to meet Kent on Saturday night, we had a church potluck at MId-County on Sunday so church people got to meet him, we went up to Lima on Monday night so some of our friends there could meet the little guy.
Our 4 days in Ohio were a whirlwind, but lots of fun. The trip back to Texas wasn't nearly as stressful, as we knew what to expect when going through the security checkpoint this time around. Thanks, Ohio family, for all of your love & prayers for us! It was wonderful to spend time with y'all. Can't wait to see y'all again over the holidays!

I have yet to fly with a child...and I'm impressed that you did it with such a young baby! I'm glad that y'all got to go and it looks like y'all had fun. So sweet of your mom to make a nursery for Kent (and future grandkids)!
